Pre-e-e-pare Ye The Way Of The Lord

A copy of The Alba Madonna by Raphael is displayed in the CPE Students Office at GHBC.  I admit I only noticed it (again) after I returned from leading today's Bible Study on the Gospel appointed for Advent II - Matthew 3: 1-12.  The audible cue from Godspell aside, my friends in Assisted Living said this reading in which John the Baptist Prepares the Way spoke to them about "housekeeping".  "The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire"-v10.  "His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire"-v12.  I myself remembered Luke's account in which 'the mountains and hills will be made low, and the valleys will be raised up, while the crooked road is made straight and smooth'.  We may need to clean out our closets, and straighten up our rooms and homes.  We might, more importantly, create a place in our hearts, minds, body and soul for the Incarnate Christ to come be with us.  Regardless, now is the time for us to wait and watch and anticipate the coming of The Glory of the Lord.  Now.  Now. Now.
