Body Mass Index

A church friend (thanks, pisco!) introduced me to the BMI, a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women.  This calculator is provided by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute's Obesity Education Initiative.

Without going into details, I have a lot of work to do to extricate myself from that "ugly and troublesome" (no judgment here, folks - these are my words, no one else's) category called "obese".  Since I'm not getting any younger and already have other risk factors working against me, it would do me well to remove one of them (and perhaps some others in the process).

I now pledge to begin both consciously and actively working toward moving myself from Obese to Overweight.

Work it, SS!
One slow step at a time. Seriously, don't try to lose too much in one week--1% or 2 lbs., whichever is greater. Let's just say your skin has to adjust gradually to enclosing less of you.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you out!
