A.R.K.

Today's forecast was 100% chance of rain.  And Man, rain it did!  It began pouring this afternoon and continued throughout the evening.  It doesn't sound as though it's going to let up anytime soon.  So it seemed little funny to find "Evan Almighty" on cable tonight.  Hmmmm.

It's a film about Evan Baxter, a former newsman from Buffalo who is newly elected to Congress.  Apparently Baxter thought he could change the world.  That was his campaign slogan.  His promise.  A commitment he made.  That's right:  CHANGE THE WORLD!  With a new car (a Hummer), moving his family into a grand new home, and scoring really lush and large office space not usually available to freshmen congressmen, Uh oh!  What's wrong with this picture?  As an admin says, it is too much too easy way too soon.  Baxter is courted by a powerful senior congressman who wants him to "junior-sponsor" a bill to permit "development" in our national parks.  Hmmmm.

Cue the Lord Almighty.  That's when God comes calling.  God tells Evan 'a flood is coming and you're gonna need a bigger boat'.  Let the halarity ensue.  Tools appear on his doorstep.  Simple enough.  Then animals begin to congregate around him.  Two by two.  Curious.  Lumber is delivered by 1-800-GO-4-WOOD (cute!).  Okay.  Then hair growth begins to trouble him and "G" provides him some cool, comfortable robes to wear.  All in all, God makes it difficult for Baxter to do his day job because he has a higher calling.  Hmmmm.

When Evan questions God "Why me?", the reply was "Change the World".  How?  Build the Ark.  God told him he could do it.  Through Acts of Random Kindness.  God says the way we change the world is with one act of random kindness at a time.  Yep, one A.R.K. at a time.

Hmmmm.  Okay.
