Cruise Control

Its nice from time to time to have a day without a plan.  Just live it and enjoy it.

Another day.  Another year.  One more wrinkle.  Two more aches.  But its all good.

Slept in til 9:30 a.m.  Birthday breakfast: oatmeal with blueberries, two slices of crispy bacon and coffee.  Read the paper.  Got news from my buddy B regarding the hole in his head behind his face and in front of his brain from his motorcycle accident which blinded him - the hole had fully healed, thereby eliminating some very intrusive surgery before they complete the last major facial reconstruction of his upper face.  THANK YOU, GOD!!  Finished book #1 in my seminary summer reading list.  Went for a good walk in the afternoon.  After a shower and shave, we went to our favorite pub.  Birthday lunch: shrimp with cheesy grits, and ice cold beers.  Then we cruised around the city for the remainder of the afternoon in the convertible.  Cruised the Holy Hill.  Cruised around the National Mall.  Cruised up to the Washington National Cathedral.  Cruised some on the G.W. Parkway.  Stopped in to see our youngest goddaughter for a birthday hug, kiss and song (several times) as well as a birthday beer with her father.  Then back home.  Heart Of My Heart prepared me a lovely birthday dinner: grilled tuna, cheesy cauliflower, tossed salad and a glass of red wine.  Then the rest of the evening was lounging in front of the TV, channel-surfing between lots of different sports (the Nationals, DC United, the start of the Stanley Cup Finals (die, you Penguins!) and the Women's College World Series.

Yep, there was no plan today but to take life as it came and to enjoy every bit of it.  And I did.  See the grin on my face?

It was a great day.  The wrinkle doesn't bother me and the aches have disappeared.  And I'm now 51!  WOOT!
