I started reading a book my niece, Shannon, gave me for Christmas.  It is Lifestories: Finding God's "Voice Of Truth" Through Everyday Life by Mark Hall with Tim Luke.  Hall, the lead singer and songwriter for Casting Crowns, overcame dyslexia and ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) to become a Youth Pastor for 15 years and, more recently, a recording artist the last two years. Shannon saw one of my previous posts (If We Are The Body, 11/30/06) and thought I would enjoy the book.  [I suspect that Casting Crowns will be a regular source for grist in my mill here, and my constant companion in music.]

Thankfully, I have not known hurdles such as those Hall faced growing up.  However, as I begin to consider more carefully what God may expect of me next, I begin to wonder if I have the good stuff, the right stuff, or even enough stuff to be worthy to work in whatever ministry that may be.  These feelings of inadequacy and insecurity sometimes lead to questioning if God can use me as I am.  Then I realize Mark Hall called it what is is - Fear - it is the handiwork of Satan.  It is then I must turn to and embrace the belief that "God does not call those who are fit; God makes fit those who are called".  Only by God's Grace.

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. - 2 Corinthians 12: 9.

For me, Shannon is an example of God's Abiding Grace and Awesome Power.  Many know her story already.  If you don't know it, just ask me.  It's definitely a story worth sharing.

Shannon, thank you for the book.  God Bless You.  I Love You.
