A Good Day

Lots of good stuff happened today in CPE at Goodwin House Bailey's Crossroads:

o  Collegial dealings with one of the PT Staff Chaplains - I'm the only CPE Student in when he's there.  He will be my third mentor.  I guess I hit the Chaplain Mentor trifecta!

o  I confirmed my preaching date:  Advent IV (December 23rd) for 10:30am Sunday at GHBC Chapel.  No pressure!  RIGHT!

o  Enjoyed great fellowship with staff over lunch, including spouse of the Academic Dean at Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS).  She said she'd be looking for me on the 'Holy Hill' next year.

o  My offer to serve as a Hospice Volunteer making friendly visits (NOT as a Chaplain Intern) was accepted.  I have an assignment.

o  I had a really good visit with someone in the Memory Unit - we actually communicated with one another; I listened effectively while he shared his story.  I even think he will remember me.

o  Had a nice meeting with the new Activities Coordinator in Assisted Living.

o  Completed the day with the first friendly visit.  The Ministry of Presence is so much easier than trying to be a Chaplain.

It was a very good day.  I received affirmations, one after another, that I'm in the right place, doing the right thing.  At least today.

Thank you, Lord.
