Be Thankful For The Smallest Of Things

Today's Psalm appointed in Forward Day By Day and the focus of the meditation is about giving thanks always to the Lord:

Psalm 106:1-18. Hallelujah! Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his mercy endures for ever. Who can declare the mighty acts of the LORD, or show forth all his praise?

The author of today's meditation stirred some feelings in me about my experiences thus far in the Memory Wing at Goodwin House Bailey's Crossroads.  In sharing about a woman afflicted with paralysis who found her road to recovery by first offering thanks for the ability to move one finger while the rest of her body lay still, the author raises the call to never lose hope and to always give thanks.  How hard that can be sometimes when sitting with someone who is challenged, whether it be mentally, physically, emotionally or spiritually.  To being present with them at those time "in the here and now" can be very difficult.  But going onto that wing, I first remember my call to go be with God's people.  I know that I do not go alone for God is already there with them as God comes and go with me.  Although it may never not be reveaIed to me in this earthly existence, how can I know, question or doubt the goodness of God in each and every life I meet.  God is there with them.  I believe that.  And for that, I will always give thanks.

Be thankful for the smallest of things for the Lord's mercy is so great!
