Led By God

Thanks to my dear friend Sally for sharing this Thought for the Day with me:

"If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it."

During Spiritual Direction yesterday morning, and again later in the day sitting in my friend Jane's office at Goodwin House Alexandria (GHA), I reflected upon the path I have walked and how it brought me now.  How did I get here?  Why am I here now?  What is God trying to tell me?

I'm presently acting as a part-time Private Duty Care Companion to an elderly resident at GHA.  I'm excited to begin courses (Philosophy & Religion) at NVCC next Monday for six weeks.  Due to scheduling issues my discernment work with the parish committee has yet to complete, but I already know I will move forward in the process to seek Postulancy.  Given that is granted by my Bishop, I will prepare to take the GREs and then make application to enter seminary in the Fall of 2009.  It sounds like a plan.  And there is peace in my heart about it all.

I know God brought me to this.  He called me into new ministry.  What it is, where it will be, and with whom, is unknown to me at this time.

I did Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at the other Goodwin House not long ago.  I chose that location.  I think.  Maybe God led me there.  Now circumstances, opportunity and timing have brought me to GHA.  Maybe God brought me here.  Perhaps God is trying to show me just one more model of ministry where He could use me:  As a chaplain in a Continuing Care Retirement Community such as GHI.

Sitting here now considering that possibility, like any other form of ministry, my feeling is:  It would be my honor and pleasure to serve.

Almighty Father, your Seeking Servant prays for guidance.
