I am now 3.5 hours into my 1st CPE rotation as On-Call (overnight) Chaplain at Washington Hospital Center.  The shiift runs from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 a.m. the next morning - a full 13-hour shift.

I've answered a Trauma call to MedSTAR (Medical Shock Trauma/Acute Resuscitation) for an assault victim, been paged to visit a distressed patient, and followed-up with a woman whose roommate had a Code Blue (which was aborted).

There have been stops and starts, and a few missteps along the way.  However, after retracing steps once or twice, I do believe the Lord's presence was offered/felt in each instance, whether I had anything to do with it or not.
