From the Dictionary of Medical Terms (5th Ed., Barron's Educational Series, 2006), Diverticulitis is:

"N, inflammation of an abnormal sac (diverticulum) at a weakened point in the digestive tract, esp. the colon.  Symptoms include cramp-ike abdominal pain, fever, and diarrhea or constipation.  Treatment is by rest and antibiotics; severe cases may require surgery."

Why, pray tell would I even bother to look up this particular condition?

Because my oldest niece completed the 'trifecta' for our family - she joins her mother ("Yes, like mother, like daughter") and apparently, my brother (who I do not recall exactly having had this issue).  Let's hope that punches the ticket for our clan.  I am grateful that oldest niece was discharged from the hospital earlier today.

I have access to the medical dictionary because I'm On-Call at the hospital tonight.  It's been a calm day today and so far this evening.  I pray it continues to be calm and quiet.  This is something I might have put out on Facebook, however the hospital has access filters preventing me from playing with Fb.

And, Yes, I have the correct pager and the cell phone is charged.  Thank you very much.
