Who We Anglicans Pray For

As a sacristan at VTS, one of my incidental responsibilities is to prepare Cycle of Prayer cards for our worship. In our prayers, we include the Anglican Cycle for the worldwide Communion, the Seminary Cycle for all places of education and formation for the Episcopal Church, and the local Washington Theological Consortium.

Within the Anglican Cycle, different USA provinces are included for prayer. However, in the instance of the near future Monday, May 2nd, it has listed that we should pray not specifically for the Diocese of New Hampshire (Province I, USA), but rather for the Bishop of New Hampshire, The Rt. Revd. V. Gene Robinson.

Me wonders if this is a passive aggressive move of the worldwide Communion.

Certainly Bishop Robinson merits our prayers, as do all the people of his diocese, much like all in The Diocese of Virginia merit our prayers. So as a sacristan at VTS, who is grateful for a man who is Bishop, for what he has done and continues to do for a very important member of my personal family, and our greater family in the Church, I take action to expand the cycle on May 2nd to include the whole Diocese of New Hampshire.

I imagine God intends it that way, I want it that way, and at least at one seminary supporting the Episcopal Church, it shall be that way.
