Mulligan Has Decided...

The tiniest 10-week old male Black Lab pup (named 'Harry' by the shelter folks) will be his new bud.

After meeting Scarlett (the 2-year old female) and Hermione (the 10-week old female Black Lab pup), Mulligan reacted the most to this male pup.  Harry was not submissive at all when he first came in, but then started playing the "oh yeah, you're the Alpha Dog".  Mulligan stepped on Harry's paw and ear drawing a squeal from him, showed his domination by pawing at him and trying to mount him, and managed to cover him in slober.  Harry must have been hungry because he wanted to eat all the hair fluffs Mulligan had shed in the small observation room.  When the little dude finally scampered toward the big guy and barked at him,  Mulligan responded by "play bowing" (lowering his head and raising his butt up in the air wagging his tail).  We knew then he had picked his new buddy.  Our home visit is scheduled for Thursday evening, August 9th.  On the way home, we both began the 'a puppy? what are we thinking!' as Mulligan sat in the back, taking in the breeze from the open windows.  I'm pretty sure I overheard him say "yeah, he'll be okay".

But the name Harry?  It doesn't work for us.

He will be called "Gibbs".

Gibbs
I hardly think anyone with pets named "Murdock" or "Kylie" or "Ecco" or "Hektor" has much room to speak about odd names. For those who know us, they'll understand "Gibbs" and say "Of course".

Re: Gibbs
Hey, we got Murdoch when he was 2 so we didn't have a real choice. Kylie, we all agreed that she "looked" like human name and my mom and some other people decided she "looked" like a K. Hektor, I was obssessed with Troy when I got him. And with Ecco, we originally thought he was a girl. My brother wanted to keep the Greek "theme" going so we named "her" Echo. When we found out that Echo was a boy, we changed the spelling to E-C-C-O.
